Prices going up, Or are they?

Well it seems as a shock that although the price of oil, and thus petrol, diesel and electric, amongst others, are going up. That the price of rail travel is going down. Recently I got a Metrolink City zone single ticket. Which cost me 70p(return £1.20). Now I'm quite sure that 12 months ago, the price for which was 90p(return £1.50). Now although this may not be correct, it still is a small decrease in price, I've also noticed the price of several goods go down by small amounts in recent times, such as the price of cream eggs, these were 40p ish, now they are only 20p.
To me that suggests we're not actually heading for a recession, as prices are going down, instead of up. This is deflation, which means if this trend is continued across the economy, we're heading for times better that Tony Blair's premiership.
The final point I'd like to make is that I've noticed that train fairs have gone down considerably, 6/7 months ago a single ticket from Manchester to Chester cost me over 16 pounds. Now the price is just over 13 pounds for a return ticket. Again this is suggesting that we're dealing with deflation, this is a good thing. Of course the general public will see their car petrol/diesel and Aircraft fuel prices go up, so will blame the government, and will vote Gordon out, but if Gordon continues to make these changes, that affect me for the better, then I will be voting Labour in the next election
